Ran Ishii (石井蘭) is a singer, dancer, actress, and model under LAPONE Entertainment. She is a former member of the girl group Girls2 and temporary group mirage2, and is currently the sub-leader and member of ME:I. She shares her name and appearance with her GaruGaku. counterpart, Ran.
Biography
Ran was born on August 7, 2004 in Saitama Prefecture. She is the middle child of her parents' three children and has an older sister and younger sister.[4] She is a graduate of EXPG Omiya.
Etymology
Ran (蘭) means "orchid".
Ishii (石井) uses the kanji 石 (Ishi; Stone) and 井 (I; Well).
Career
2016-2018: EXPG
Ran joined EXPG Omiya in her sixth grade of elementary school[5] in 2016, having been first seen in articles and images around that time.[6][7] She was usually seen during lessons with ITO.[8][9] After a while, Ran made another appearance at the 2018 SUPER KIDS FESTA☆.
2019-2023: Debut with Secret x Heroine Phantomirage!, mirage2, Debut with Girls2, Graduation
Unlike the other three members of the main cast, Ran became a member through regular auditions. She was then announced as a cast member for the third season of the Girls x Heroine franchise, Secret x Heroine Phantomirage! in early 2019. Due to being a main cast member, she guested on children's shows such as Oha Suta.
Aside from acting in the show, Ran was a member of the idol unit they released through the series called mirage2. The group's activities lasted for a year until the end of the series.
It was announced later than the others that Ran became a member of the new unit "Girls2" formed from the Girls x Heroine franchise, a combination unit between 'miracle2', 'magical2' and 'mirage2'. Their debut took place on June 26 with the release "Daijoubu" which was the opening theme for the third season of the Girls x Heroine franchise, Secret x Warrior Phantomirage!.
Under the group, Ran and her teammates carried out more activities, such as modeling for several popular brands and having their own mini anime through Oha Suta. Ran became an Oha Girl along with the members of mirage2 for the academic year of 2020-2021 and was the Thursday Oha Girl along with Yuzuha Oda. She then graduated from Oha Suta on October 1, 2021.
On February 9, 2021, it was announced that Ran would participate in EXPG "GRAND SHOWDOWN" (a competition where those who win will become the representative of their school) as part of EXPG High School.
On February 7, 2023, it was announced that Ran will graduate from Girls2 at the end of March and will not be participating in the Girls2 Fan Meeting in April at all. She graduated on March 31, 2023, following her graduation from EXPG High School the day before.
2023-2024: PRODUCE 101 JAPAN: THE GIRLS, Debut with ME:I

On September 2, 2023, Ran was revealed as a contestant on the survival show PRODUCE 101 JAPAN: THE GIRLS, which officially started broadcasting on October 5. In the first episode, she was peer ranked 62nd and given an original grade of B during the first evaluation, but was re-evaluated to grade A afterwards. On December 16, during the final episode, Ran was announced as a member of the debut group, ME:I, finishing in 9th place overall.
ME:I officially debuted on April 17, 2024 with their first single "MIRAI" and its title track "CLICK".
